I was so grateful that my home had been spared in the recent northern California firestorms that I put together a collection of yarn, fibers, and equipment to donate to other fiber addicts who had lost everything in the fires. Alisha from the Fiber Circle Studio in Cotati organized “free yarn" distribution and I later received a heartwarming email from her:
“A few hours after you dropped your donation items off, an older couple came in. The husband had insisted his wife come so she can have her solace again. I was "showing" them around and mentioned the sewing machine you had dropped off. The woman cries out her husbands name with extreme excitement and says, "Hunny! A sewing machine!" She then turned to me and told me he was an avid sewer and lost all his machines in the fire.”
This man's loving kindness in taking his wife to get some yarn and knitting needles to replace what she had lost resulted in the unexpected gift of a sewing machine (that had just arrived) for him….. a trifecta of perfect timing. Moments of synchronicity and grace are all around us. Allow yourself to notice and celebrate them this holiday season….. and always.
